El domingo 18 de mayo a las 7pm, TNT transmitirá en vivo desde el MGM Grand Garden Arena de Las Vegas uno de los eventos más esperados por los fanáticos de la música: los Billboard Music Awards 2014. La ceremonia, que reúne sobre un mismo escenario a los máximos talentos de la actualidad, también estará disponible a través de TNT GO.TV.
Esta premiación se organiza sobre tres ejes: los Artists Awards, los Album Awards, y los Song Awards. Algunos de los nominados de este año son Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Imagine Dragons, Beyonce, Daft Punk, Lorde, Eminem, y One Direction (quienes en junio estarán con su film This is Us por la pantalla de TNT). Muchos de estos artistas se darán cita sobre el escenario para agasajar al público con presentaciones en vivo.
La música latinoamericana también tendrá representantes en los Billboard Music Awards, en categorías específicas. En el apartado de Top Latin Artist, aparecen Marc Anthony, Gerardo Ortiz, Jenni Rivera, Prince Royce y Romeo Santos, mientras que en el rubro Top Latin Album las postulaciones se las llevan Marc Anthony con el álbum 3.0, Alejandro Fernández con su trabajo titulado Confidencias, Prince Royce con Soy el mismo, Romeo Santos con Formula: Vol. 2 y la desaparecida cantante mexicana Jenni Rivera con el álbum recopilatorio 1969 – Siempre: En vivo desde Monterrey: Parte 1. Finalmente, por el premio Top Latin Song compiten Marc Anthony con “Vivir mi vida”, Daddy Yankee con “Limbo”, Enrique Iglesias junto a Romeo Santos por “Loco”, Prince Royce con “Darte un beso” y Romeo Santos con su “Propuesta indecente”.
Cabe destacar que el evento de 2013 fue el más visto de los últimos 12 años, con casi 10 millones de televidentes sólo en los EEUU. También alcanzó los 4.3 millones de Tweets. La gran ganadora fue Taylor Swift, que se alzó con 8 trofeos, en tanto que Gotye y Rihanna recibieron 4 premios cada uno. Prince fue distinguido con el Billboard Icon Award, mientras que Madonna obtuvo el Top Touring Artist.
Los artistas galardonados serán aquellos que aparezcan mejor posicionados dentro del ranking Billboard, gracias a la interacción de los fanáticos, la venta de álbumes, los resultados de las giras y la participación de los usuarios en las redes sociales y sitios web.
